Projects in Threlkeld

The Parish Council through a sub-group is developing The Threlkeld Parish Plan which will include a number of projects to enhance the Parish and living or visiting it.

Donald Angus is leading the creation of a Nature Reserve in Kilnhowe

Stuart Cresswell is trying to compile a History of Threlkeld by getting everyone to research the history of their home - its building and modification and the people who have been connected with it. He is photographing all the old outdoor privies (many were originally earth closets) and wash-houses. If you have one hidden from view please let him know - even if it has been converted to something else!

He has made a start with histories of The Schoolmaster's House (Vale View) and Threlkeld Public Room.

I believe that Ann Du Boulay and Ruth Marr are trying to make a list of all Threlkeld people who were on Active Dervice during World War II. We know who died in that war but, unlike WW I, we do not know who took part and returned. (There are memorials to those who died in both wars in the church and at the War Memorial and a list honouring all those who fought in WW I in the Public Room.)
