Threlkeld Art Society

  The Society meets in the Public Rooms on Saturday afternoon once each month.
Workshops lead by experienced artists are also held in S Herbert's Church Hall, Braithwaite.
The Annual Exhibition is held in Threlked Public Rooms over the August Bank Holiday week-end.

Blencathra Bowling Club

Founded in 1992 by 25 villagers to play Short Mat Bowls in the Public Rooms, the club meets every Tuesday at 7.00 pm until after 9.00. There are two mats and there is a good attendance each week. There is usually a short break in August. Visitors are always welcome and will find a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Matches are held between Blencathra and Thirlmere, Penruddock, St Herbert's (Keswick) and Ireby. Contact Ron Horne 017687 79265

 

Bridge Club

Founded only in 2002, the Bridge Club meeting in the Public Room is presently suspended for lack of regular players. However Bridge is played in village homes.
Play is informal and friendly and standards of players range from recent beginners, through the rusty to the fairly expert.

Threlkeld Cricket Club

Threlkeld Cricket Club enjoys one of the finest settings in English cricket with breathtaking views all round - and the new fully licensed Pavilion as club house. For 2006 the playing area has been enlarged and made more level.
Two Saturday teams are fielded (usually one team at home every Saturday from May to September). There are matches for Under 13s and Under 11s and there is the Horse and Farrier midweek team.

Keswick Golf Club

Keswick Golf Club is at Threlkeld Hall to the east of the Village and south of A66.
It is renowned for its facilities including ample parking, changing rooms, practice area, well stocked shop and restuarant. Visitors are welcome - enquiries 017687 79324.

Cumbria Beagles

Cumbria Beagles were formed in 1972. 12 couple are kennelled at Woodend and were supplemented on hunting days by several more trencher fed hounds.
They hunted the wild brown hare on the fells between the last Saturday in August and the end of February. Information from 017687 79686.
Neither "cap" nor subscription was taken but contributions to running costs are appreciated.

Blencathra Foxhounds

 

Blencathra Foxhounds are a foot hunt with hounds descended from John Peel's best.
It is a subscription pack run by a committee of various callings, mainly farmers.
The pack hunted the northern fells between 1st September and 10th May.

Youth Groups

 

Threlkeld has two Youth Groups.
School years 2 - 6 meets Thursday evenings 5.30-6.30
Secondary school age meets Wednesday evenings 7.00 - 8.30

Mother & Toddler Group

 

Meets in the School Canteen on Monday mornings during term time from 9.30 to 11.30.
All are welcome. Anyone with pre-school age children including babies are invited
