He is listed in the Border Service muster at Penrith with brothers 1581 as bowmen (M Cole)

A survey 1589 showed that he held tenement 8 ac arable 8 ac in meadow in Manor of Sparket (which includes Thackthwaite) rent 12/- pa (per M Cole)

In he1600 inherited 12 old sheep from his brother (per M Cole)

Watermillock parish register reords his burial"Richard martin laite of Thackthwaite whiche in honest reporte amongs his neighbors"

He married Barbara WALKER (daughter of JAMES WALKER) on 17 Jun 1582 in Thackthwaite, Watermillock, CUL, ENG.(?There is no church in Thackthwaite) Barbara WALKER died in Nov 1623.^{(2) (1)} She was buried on 14 Nov 1623 in Watermillock, CUL, ENG. Her will 22 Feb 1623 leaves personal belongings to son John and daughter Margaret and mentions brother (presumably brother-in-law) Edward Martin

Note1623 was a year of great famine
